Bittersweet

There’s no more apt description of the title word than what is reflected in the pictures above.

Bitter, in that the frosty death knell has been sounded on the lives of hundreds of these and other plants, as they continue to push out colorful blooms until the bitter end.

Sweet, in that the welcomed time of rest and reflection at the end of a wonderfully busy season is at hand.

We can’t thank God, and our friends and patrons, enough for a sweet and memorable 2026 fresh-flower season. We’ll take the next few weeks to prepare the farm for it’s annual state of “suspended animation”. Then, the Holidays, and then the planning for next season.

In the meantime, you may catch us at the odd winter market or off-season conference (is there ever an off-season?). As usual, we’ll post on Kay’s Kalendar any upcoming events.

All Sales Are Final

As in…these are the final days of our 2026 season. Even if there doesn’t seem to be any end to the plentiful colors and variety in the garden, we’ve got to get to the necessary end-of-year maintenance and administration tasks. So, to rephrase, all boukay sales for the next few days will be our final ones in 2026.

Oh, we’re still picking, creating, and delivering (as you can see), as we finish with a flourish. Kay’s final market appearance will be this weekend at the Oberlin Farmer’s Market. If you can’t make it to the market, we’ll still be selling gorgeous boukays, from Kay’s Kottage, for a few more days.

It seems like we just got started!

Goodbye, Summer!

Mr. Boukay is “pumpkin spice guy”…and proudly so. Summer is ending, and pumpkins are rising. Our patch is producing a variety of colorful gourds that, as you can see, will accompany many seasonal boukays this Fall.

Naturally, this is a time where we begin to reflect a bit on all that has happened this year. The season seems to be coming to a close so quickly. But, make no mistake, our blooms haven’t quit blooming. Dahlias, Zinnias, Cosmos, etc., are still going strong. Kay continues to craft fresh boukays which continue to be available…

We may be sprinting towards that first frost of the year, but Kay’s Boukays still offers plenty of opportunities for you to add some delightful “spice” to your harvest home!
