Where’s Kay?

As the 2026 market season kicks in, don’t be surprised to find us in more than one place on a Saturday. Take this past Saturday, for instance. If you were expecting to find us in our customary #13 stall at the Oberlin Farmer’s Market from 9AM to Noon…you weren’t disappointed. However, if later the same day you happened to be checking out the tony indoor Shoppes On Broad (in Elyria from Noon-4pm), and thought you were hallucinating when you spied Kay…you weren’t! (I mean, your hallucinations ARE your own responsibility) Kay was there, at the invite of Elyria Community Partners, taking her place on the concourse among a fine assortment of vendors.

And the moral of the story is…

  • If you want to know where to find us, please check in with Kay’s Kalendar as we update our appearances schedule regularly.
  • Lay off the hallucinogens and groove on colorful Boukays instead.

Kay’s Kottage and Off We Go!

  • May the Fourth Be With You
  • Cinco de Mayo
  • Happy Mother’s Day

And these all within the first week and a half of the month of May. The 2026 Boukay season has arrived! From now until the last frost of the season, it’s game time. This is what we plan for and have been dreaming about since Christmas.

Online sales, markets, deliveries, weddings, etc. LET’S GO!!!

So, this year, we’d like to better capture and serve our drive/walk-up clientele. In the past, we would place beautiful stems and boukays out on our Boukart. We then posted online notifications and set out the roadside flags to let folks know that they could get hand-crafted boukays by simply stopping by the farm.

Problem was that while these award-winning products sat exposed to the heat and wind on the Kart, the more peaked they appeared. Certainly not up to Kay’s standards.

Introducing Kay’s Kottage. We retired the Boukart, which served us well for 5 years and replaced it with a tidy 7 x 7 “bloom room”. Here, our fine boukays can chill in refrigerated comfort, just waiting for you to take one home. And, while you’ve made the stop, are there any other fascinating flower-based specialties we can interest you in?

April Showers

Let’s see…we’re pretty much in full beast mode here already. Plenty of rain for sure. So much in fact, that we’ve had to employ some flood control around the greenhouse. Not to worry, though. As you can see, boukay production is in full swing as we can’t seem to harvest the tulips, narcissus, and anemones fast enough. We’ve employed all means of harvesting, storage, and production as we sort through the orders and happily craft our signature boukays.

Speaking of signature boukays, we’re sure that your Mother would be rendered speechless at the sigh of a Kay’s Boukay on Mother’s Day (hey, that rhymes!) Please don’t forget her this year…or all bets are off on the “speechless” part.

LOL!
